This year’s BRICS summit is focused on promoting cooperation among countries to ensure fair global growth and security.
Participation of Brics Summit :
Next week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia to take part in the 16th BRICS Summit, which is set for Kazan, October 22–23. Leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will meet at the summit, which will be chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, to talk about urgent global challenges and BRICS cooperation.
“Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” this year’s summit theme, is anticipated to center on tackling global governance issues and promoting international collaboration.
Brics Summit :
According to a statement from the external affairs ministry, “the Summit will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of initiatives launched by BRICS and to identify potential areas for future collaboration.”
After visiting Moscow in July, Modi will be returning to Russia for the second time this year.
The key emerging economies that make up the BRICS grouping account for 41% of the world’s population, 24% of its GDP, and more than 16% of global commerce. Following South Africa’s admission as a full member at the BRIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New York, the group—originally known as BRIC—was renamed BRICS in 2010.
Since then, it has spread to Iran and other Middle Eastern nations.
On the fringes of the summit, Prime Minister Modi and President Putin are scheduled to meet bilaterally on October 22. When Putin met with India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, in September during the BRICS National Security Advisers’ meeting in St. Petersburg, he extended the invitation for the bilateral meeting.
