New Delhi :
While straying from the main topic, India pacer Mohammed Siraj made a calm speech in response to the ICC’s penalty for his dismissal gesture towards Australian batsman Travis Head during the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. With just four days left before the Brisbane Test at the Gabba, pace duo Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah did not take part in Tuesday’s morning practice session in Adelaide, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.
Siraj was asked how he responded to the punishment, which is worth about AUD 16,500 or Rs 8,95,340, during the team’s batting and bowling session at the nets. Siraj responded to the query by saying, “Yeah man, it’s all good.” When questioned further about if it had upset him, the Indian pacer responded, “I am going to the gym now.”
The event happened on Day 2 following Head’s match-winning innings of 140 runs off 141 deliveries, which concluded when he was dismissed by Siraj’s yorker. Following the dismissal, the Indian bowler gave a passionate farewell. Head and Siraj described their interaction on Day 2 in different ways. Head maintained that he used the phrase “well bowled” to praise Siraj following his dismissal. Siraj, however, refuted this account, claiming that Head had lied about the exchange and made no such comment.
Later, following the conclusion of the Adelaide Test, Head explained the circumstances surrounding his altercation with Siraj, stating that they had settled their disagreements.
